What Is an Engineered Life Safety System?
An ELSS can involve a coordinated combination of fire alarm systems, automatic sprinklers, smoke control, emergency power, fire and smoke doors, engineering analysis, testing, and AHJ coordination. Not every ELSS includes every system; project requirements are building-specific.
Clarity Before Additional Work Is Authorized
ELSS projects can involve multiple contractors, existing life-safety systems, previous upgrades, approved engineering documents, testing requirements, deficiencies, permits, and AHJ coordination. An independent engineering review can help clarify what has already been addressed, what remains outstanding, and where proposed work may warrant closer engineering review.

Documents EB Life Safety Can Review
When durable online document storage is available, visitors may optionally provide ELSS plans and drawings, contractor proposals and quotes, testing reports, deficiency reports, AHJ correspondence, fire alarm or smoke control documentation, permits, inspection reports, and other relevant ELSS documents. Documents are never required to use either complimentary tool.
